Migrating Landscapes
August 29 - November 25, 2012
Canada Pavillion
13th International Architecture Exhibition - La Biennale di Venezia

Three works by the artist were selected to be a part of Migrating Landscapes, an exhibition produced by Winnipeg-based 5468796 Architecture and Jae-Sung Chon for the 2012 Venice Architecture Biennale.

For the installation,  the artist created three small-scale replicas of her great-grandfather’s trapping cabin near Fort McMurray, Alberta. The first was constructed from deer hide sourced from the artist’s family, another with crocheted fabric and the last with cable ties. The method of construction incorporates materials and techniques passed down from the artist’s Métis family and references long-standing forms of craft and present-day technology.
